My Favorite Things: Oofos

April 13, 2020   /   byrunningwhilevegan  / Categories :  Uncategorized

If you don’t wear Oofos for recovery, are you even ready for your next run? Seriously, these recovery sandals are game-changers. In full disclosure, I work in a run shop and often times am seeded; given free product to wear, learn about, and recommend to customers. This doesn’t mean we are obligated to wear them, or write reviews, or post about them on IG, but if I receive a product I absolutely love, I want to tell the world about it! A pair of Oofos had been on my personal wish list for awhile, so when the rep asked if our staff wanted seeds, we were all in!

The pair I was given are the Original Sport Sandal in Graphite, and I LOVE THEM. To be honest, there was a little bit of a break in period, as the sandals have quite a bit of cushion, arch support and the slightest bit of a rocking motion to them, plus they hold your foot in like a canoe, similar to a Hoka. Size-wise, I wear an 8.5 casual shoe, and a 9.5 running shoe. I went with a size 9, as Oofos don’t come in half sizes, and I think it’s perfect. I think they run a little short, so if you are between two sizes, go with the bigger one.

I love, love, love wearing them around the house instead of being barefoot or in running shoes. They just feel so GOOD. Last night my knees and ankle were aching after a run, as I’ve been trying to up my mileage recently and my body is in the stage of resisting. A few months ago a 30 mile week would have been a piece of cake, but after an intense race schedule and some down time, I am in the building process again.

Sweet relief after a run in my Asics Gliderides! My fave compression product right now is the CEP calf sleeve, I wear them constantly!

I slipped on the Oofos and felt better almost immediately. After a night of so-so sleep (my sleep schedule is all over the place with the Covid19 quarantine, and last night I tried to get it back to normal by waking up much earlier than my body wanted to). Even with less than ideal sleep, my legs feel fresh! The rest of my body is a different story, as no amount of yoga is a stand-in for my chiropractor, but the recovery sandals do help, as feet are the foundation of our bodies! (My chiropractor’s office is open, but I don’t want to visit right now, as COVID-19 is sweeping through the nation; it just doesn’t feel essential or safe for me to go right now.)

Oofos are one of my very favorite running essentials right now, and if you haven’t tried them but are curious about a pair of recovery sandals, you should definitely check them out! After a brutal race or training run, or even just running errands and doing household chores, your feet will definitely thank you! When I see them, in the house being unworn, I seriously have to stop what I’m doing and put them on.

(If you are in the market, may I suggest buying them from the run shop I work for? Support small business! Thank you!)

Showing off My Ultra Medal

I wrote a whole post about my ultra marathon in Alaska and never once showed off my beautiful new medal! I’m definitely the kind of person who keeps all my medals for sentimental value, and so obviously this one has the most value! I just finished Catra Corbett’s book, “Reborn on the Run“, and I […]

I Bought A Three Day Juice Cleanse in a Moment of Desperation (and Curiosity)

I bought a three day, Pressed Juicery cleanse in January, and I absolutely loved it. I loved having all those juices, everyday. I didn’t cleanse per se, but I did drink about three to four green juices a day for the course of about five days! AND IT WAS AWESOME. I had just been pretty […]
