Yoga Revolution Day Four, Yoga for New Beginnings, and Running – This is How I Spend My Days Off

Yoga Revolution Day Four, Prana Practice! Super stoked I’ve been able to keep up with a practice everyday so far, even if it’s just been four days! I liked today’s video in that there were some new poses, and the focus seemed to again be resistance and strength, especially for the core and balance, without being an ab workout. I wouldn’t do it as a stand-alone video, like day two, but it builds on the rest of the days nicely. There was lizard, lunges and runner’s stretch in there – all of my favorite things. Planks, lots of planks. I get super toned doing these 30 day series! It’s really great for my running. The breathing practices in the beginning of these workouts is always hard for me – a reminder to practice patience and be tuned into what I resisist and why, but sometimes (every time) I just want to get to the poses!

Since I am starting a new job, I’ve been wanting to tackle Yoga for New Beginnings again. It came out New Year’s Eve, and I did it around that time, but I was also very sick and didn’t remember it clearly. It complimented Revolution Day Four nicely, incorporating some of the same stretches and poses. It is a 20 minute practice, and another one that takes a little while to get started. I would do this before a run if I wanted something that started out gentle with some words of wisdom, and flowed into lunges, runner’s stretch, lizard, down dogs, cobras, and child’s pose. The end is a few minutes of sitting quietly and breathing.

After these yoga videos, I looked over some work stuff, made flash cards to help me remember important points of training, and then went for a seven mile run. It was a productive day off, and of course the time went way too fast! Enjoying the last moments before I go to bed, recapping the day and the workouts, getting myself into shape to tackle some more half marathons and a new job!
