Yoga Revolution Day Five: Practice Rhythm

April 18, 2018   /   byrunningwhilevegan  / Categories :  Uncategorized

Today was day number six at my new job, and my first day back after one day off. I needed that day off to relax and decompress after getting so much new information thrown my way! Today I felt much calmer and well-informed, and it made the job so much easier. I made flash cards yesterday to help me remember the most important points of the job, when relaying information to customers. I still have a ways to go, but it’s all less anxiety-inducing!

It was hard to get up this morning. I hit snooze quite a lot and almost made the decision to sleep until I absolutely had to get up, and do my yoga video after work. I decided 20 extra minutes in bed wasn’t going to make that much a difference today, got up, made coffee and rolled out the mat.

Practice Rhythm was perfect! Just what I needed to wake up and get energized (that and coffee). Looking back on the day, this practice really set the tone! I was initially nervous walking into work, but I found my groove, my rhythm, pretty quickly!

I loved today’s practice. It definitely took the elements, the building, from days three and four to grow into a fiery session that I think could definitely be used as a stand alone practice. Day Five, Feel Alive is one of my favorite videos from her OG 30 Days of Yoga series, and even though Revolution was made two years later, it feels similar! Adriene also mentions running and runners at various points throughout this video, which of course captured my heart. This video incorporates a lot of balancing and core strength, with lunges, lizard variation, one legged balancing poses, and dancer! It starts off with a few minutes of cat/cow, which is awesome first thing in the morning when I need to work out all the sleepy time kinks. The ending with Texas T supine twist is one of my faves! I will definitely come back to this video again, outside of the series!

Day Five: Feel Alive Flow! One of my all-time faves that I hope to get to this week!

Showing off My Ultra Medal

I wrote a whole post about my ultra marathon in Alaska and never once showed off my beautiful new medal! I’m definitely the kind of person who keeps all my medals for sentimental value, and so obviously this one has the most value! I just finished Catra Corbett’s book, “Reborn on the Run“, and I […]

My Favorite Things: Oofos

If you don’t wear Oofos for recovery, are you even ready for your next run? Seriously, these recovery sandals are game-changers. In full disclosure, I work in a run shop and often times am seeded; given free product to wear, learn about, and recommend to customers. This doesn’t mean we are obligated to wear them, […]

Love in the Time of Covid19

Let me just start by addressing the elephant in the room here; it’s been awhile. A really long while. And even though so many things have stayed the same, things have changed as well! First of all, Mike and I got engaged at the finish line of my first ultra in Alaska — the Anchorage […]

Job Training Day Four, Yoga Revolution Day Three, and Yoga for Connection

Day four of my new job, which meant meeting new members of management and processing more information. I’m exhausted. I have tomorrow off, and am excited for a long run. I’ll also be making flash cards to remember important points for the job, but before that, am stoked to be able to hit the pavement, […]

I Bought A Three Day Juice Cleanse in a Moment of Desperation (and Curiosity)

I bought a three day, Pressed Juicery cleanse in January, and I absolutely loved it. I loved having all those juices, everyday. I didn’t cleanse per se, but I did drink about three to four green juices a day for the course of about five days! AND IT WAS AWESOME. I had just been pretty […]
