Hello world!

Get ready for our blog about veganism and running!

We’re Jenny and Mike, two vegans who also happen to run, and fell for each other in the midst of it all! We were Instagram friends who had bumped into each other a few times over the course of a year. I (Jenny) was impressed by Mike’s pics of him running with a club called BlacklistLA. That and of course his fine food photography skills (especially when they were pics of my desserts). After I had trained and run in my first half marathon, I didn’t want to run alone anymore, so I showed up to a seven mile BlacklistLA run on a Wednesday night. Mike went Monday nights, and unfortunately I had to work Mondays. Anyway, it was a blast! I kept showing up, and when my work schedule changed a month later, I made to a Monday night! Mike barely talked to me, but I figured since he was an Instagram celebrity, that was just how he was when he wasn’t mingling at vegan events.

I kept showing up to Monday nights, and kept breaking Mike down. He was cute and we had a lot of mutual friends, surely we could be chums. We were both vegan! And we ran! And we liked eating/taking pictures of our food! We went on a hike together, and talked about how there were no resources for us to find information on being vegan and running. It seemed like everything was catered to vegans who weight lift or vegans who run ultra marathons. I mean, look, I can do chest presses with 8lb weights (on a good day, usually it’s 5) and run 13.1 miles at one time, but…the sites I was finding on the internet weren’t speaking to me. Mike agreed, and so this website idea was hatched, eight months ago.

In that time we got closer, I’d text him for attention about things like shoes, hydration and nutrition, and sometimes we’d hang out. Then one fateful day in September, Mike met me after I ran a 10k in Santa Monica, we got drinks, pizza and drinks, and then margaritas and the truth came spilling out of me (and the pizza came spilling out of Mike). So now we’re a couple, we run together, and now we blog together! We hope to give you inspiration and motivation, as well as information about running while vegan. You don’t need to run ultras or lift twice your body weight to be part of our club! We’ll give you the low down and tips that we’ve learned over the years, or in my case, everything I’ve learned from Mike. Welcome to our site! We hope you stay awhile, we think it’s fun here.

Showing off My Ultra Medal

I wrote a whole post about my ultra marathon in Alaska and never once showed off my beautiful new medal! I’m definitely the kind of person who keeps all my medals for sentimental value, and so obviously this one has the most value! I just finished Catra Corbett’s book, “Reborn on the Run“, and I […]

My Favorite Things: Oofos

If you don’t wear Oofos for recovery, are you even ready for your next run? Seriously, these recovery sandals are game-changers. In full disclosure, I work in a run shop and often times am seeded; given free product to wear, learn about, and recommend to customers. This doesn’t mean we are obligated to wear them, […]

Love in the Time of Covid19

Let me just start by addressing the elephant in the room here; it’s been awhile. A really long while. And even though so many things have stayed the same, things have changed as well! First of all, Mike and I got engaged at the finish line of my first ultra in Alaska — the Anchorage […]

Yoga Revolution Day Five: Practice Rhythm

Today was day number six at my new job, and my first day back after one day off. I needed that day off to relax and decompress after getting so much new information thrown my way! Today I felt much calmer and well-informed, and it made the job so much easier. I made flash cards […]

Job Training Day Four, Yoga Revolution Day Three, and Yoga for Connection

Day four of my new job, which meant meeting new members of management and processing more information. I’m exhausted. I have tomorrow off, and am excited for a long run. I’ll also be making flash cards to remember important points for the job, but before that, am stoked to be able to hit the pavement, […]
