Britney’s Running Playlist (and now yours too)!

Since my teen years, I’ve been running off and on. It hasn’t been until recently that I’ve upped the distance past 5 miles, and stuck with it long term. In high school I was on the swim team, and on weekends I’d work out at the gym with my dad, using the treadmill or stair-stepper, plus weight machines. In college and beyond, I ran sporadically; sometimes I’d have gym memberships and use the treadmill, other times I’d just go run outside. Even though I was running a few times a week, I wasn’t complimenting it with any other kind of workouts. This time around has been different! I started with yoga and gradually came back to running through it. By doing yoga, ab workouts, and arm exercises, my running has greatly improved! I get much less sore, I’m flexible, and I am much more in tune with my body and how to adjust my runs based on any discomfort that shows up. This comes in especially handy when training for races (speed workouts for a 5k, endurance runs for half and full marathons). My body is also much stronger – I didn’t come back to running easily and there was little to no muscle on me when I started this workout journey a little over a year and a half ago. When my friend Britney started training for a 10k, I made her this playlist of my favorite supplemental yoga and ab videos for running. They’ll help strengthen your legs, knees and core, which are all very important for running! The videos range from 8:00 to 30:00 minutes, so you can fit one in no matter the time crunch. I suggest beginning with Yoga to Get The Juices Flowing. It’s a fun and energetic sequence to get you in the mindset for stretching, and with an 8:00 run time, you can either get right to your run afterward, or play another!

I’m obviously very proud of this playlist, and so stoked to have this avenue to share it with you!
